Herb of the Day: Parsley

Herb of the Day: Parsley

Posted by TriLight Health on Jan 8th 2021

Today we take a look at an herb that most folks are surprised to hear is used in herbal remedies. Parsley is one of the most widely used culinary herbs around. Most likely you have some in your fridge or in your dried herbs right now. The flavor is familiar and we're used to seeing it adorn plates as a garnish. While not a frequently used medicinal herb, parsley is used by herbalists as well as cooks. The entire plant is used in herbalism - including the roots. It is high in a number of vitamins and minerals, especially calcium and Vitamin A.

Traditional Herbal Uses of Parsley:

  • Digestive disorders
  • Flatulence
  • Infections
  • PMS
  • Hormone balancing
  • Menstrual disorders
  • Sedative
  • Cellulite
  • Kidney stones
  • Liver support
  • Diuretic
  • Detoxification
  • More!

Note- the amounts commonly used in culinary preparations are unlikely to have any medicinal benefit and/or health impact. As with most culinary herbs also used by herbalists, the quantities used in food are typically too low. Please work with an herbalist or another qualified practitioner to figure out what herbs are best for you and how to dose them.

We do not use parsley in any of our herbal remedies at this time. It's still an herb we wanted you know about though!
