Q- What herbs contain iron?

A- Many herbs are sources of iron. These are all the herbs that have been found to contain some iron- : Alfalfa, burdock root, catnip, cayenne, chamomile, chickweed, chicory, dandelion, dong quai, eyebright, fennel seed, fenugreek, horsetail, kelp, lemongrass, licorice, milk thistle seed, mullein, nettle, oatstraw, paprika, parsley, peppermint, plantain, raspberry leaf, rose hips, sarsaparilla, shepherd's purse, uva ursi, yellow dock.

Q- What helps the body absorb iron?

A- VITAMIN C (ascorbic acid)

Helps calcium and iron formation. Enhances immunity. Helps prevent cancer. Aids in production of anti-stress hormones. Antioxidant required for proper tissue growth and repair, and adrenal gland function.

HERBAL SOURCES: Alfalfa, burdock root, cayenne, chickweed, eyebright, fennel seed, fenugreek, hops, horsetail, kelp, peppermint, mullein, nettle, oat straw, paprika, parsley, pine needle, plantain, raspberry leaf, red clover, rose hips, skullcap, violet leaves, yarrow, yellow dock.


Q- 
My daughter's practitioner would like to know how much elemental iron there is per dose, but we cannot find it on the bottle or website.


A- It’s important to understand our Iron is highly absorbable, but basically 1/4 teaspoon is the equivalent of 15mgs of iron.

The iron doses we recommend are for pregnancy and those have to be on the low side. You can take more iron than the recommended doses if you have a different situation such as low iron levels or anemia but check with your health care practitioner first. Taking too much iron is problematic

How much iron do I need?

If you have already been diagnosed with iron deficiency, talk to your doctor or healthcare provider about treatment. For healthy individuals, the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for iron is listed in the following table.
