“This is my 5th time ordering Propolis. Usually a large bottle lasts us 2 years, and I try to keep a small one on hand as well. If you buy anything, this is one you must have.“ Amy
*Individual results may vary.
Propolis is one of the most fascinating ingredients in our whole apothecary. Bees make Propolis by collecting resin from the buds of trees like poplar, pine, and birch, then mixing it with their own saliva and beeswax. The result is a sticky, sealant-like substance bees use to build and repair their hives, patch cracks, and protect the whole colony; it's sometimes called "bee glue" for exactly that reason.*
That same resin is naturally rich in flavonoids, as well as a range of vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. Propolis has traditionally been used for its antibacterial properties, both taken internally and applied topically. For throat support specifically, a few drops can be applied directly to the throat, held for a moment, then swallowed.*
It has also become an important option for customers who are sensitive to echinacea but still want herbal immune support, something that's harder to find than you'd expect. Not many companies carry a plain propolis extract.*
Pairs well with: Propolis pairs well with any of our echinacea-based immune formulas if you want to mix things up, or stands completely on its own for those who need to avoid echinacea altogether.*
A couple of things to know:
- Avoid contact with the eyes; propolis can cause eye irritation.
- Prolonged, repeated use may increase some people's likelihood of developing allergies over time.
- As with any other bee product, do not use with children under one year old
