Essential Oil of the Month: Lemon

This month we're stepping away from Herb of the Month to learn about an essential oil. We use essential oils in a handful of our products- including this month's specials, Lympha Rub and ASMA.

Lemon essential oil is widely used in cleaning products- especially products for the kitchen. It offers a familiar fresh and revitalizing scent we often associate with a clean kitchen. Lemon is frequently combined with other citrus oils to further enhance their properties. Though we could easily write an entire blog on how to clean your home with lemon- there is much more to this essential oil! Herbalists and aromatherapists have used it for centuries for therapeutic purposes. Today we'll learn more about those types of uses.

Of note- Lemon oil- along with other citrus oils- are considered "phototoxic," which means they may increase your risk of sunburn when used topically. Make sure to always properly dilute your essential oils and be mindful of citrus oils before going out into the sun.
