FAQ- Iron Supplementation
Posted by TriLight Health on Aug 22nd 2019

Q- My daughter's practitioner would like to know how much elemental iron there is per dose, but we cannot find it on the bottle or website.
A- It's essential to understand that our iron is highly absorbable, but basically 1/4 teaspoon is the equivalent of 15 mg of iron.
The iron doses we recommend are for pregnancy, and those have to be on the low and safe side. You can take more iron than the recommended doses if you have a different situation, such as low iron levels or anemia. Always check with your health care practitioner first, though. We want to make sure it's done safely, as taking too much iron can be dangerous.
How much iron do I need?
If you have already been diagnosed with iron deficiency, talk to your doctor or healthcare provider about treatment. For healthy individuals, the Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA) for iron is listed in the following table.

*This value is an Adequate Intake (AI) value. AI is used when not enough information is available to set a Recommended Dietary Allowance (RDA).
