Herb of the Day: Oatstraw
Posted by TriLight Health on May 21st 2020
Oatstraw is the stem from which the popular grain oatmeal grows. It is harvested during the "milky oat" stage while still green. The grain is separated and the stem, seeds, and leaves are used for a variety of medicinal uses partly due to the extremely high concentration of magnesium, calcium and B-Vitamins found in the plant. This herb is often used in herbal vitamin and mineral products. It's also beloved by herbalists for the effects it has on the nervous system and is often used for stress, anxiety, and difficulties with sleep.
