Dong Quai (Female Ginseng): Traditional Uses, Benefits & How to Use It
Female Ginseng is best known as Dong Quai in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its scientific name is Angelica sinensis, telling us it is related to dill, parsley, and carrots. This is one of those rare herbs that gives us a clue about its use in the name. Female Ginseng has an affinity for the female reproductive system. Some herbalists consider it the best herb for women's health. Not only does it nourish the organs, but it has also been traditionally used for hormone balance and menstrual problems. It's most often used internally in teas, tinctures, and capsules.
