Herb of the Month: Spirodela
Posted by TriLight Health on Mar 29th 2024
Spirodela is an herb not as well known in North America, though the plant itself is a familiar one. Commonly known as duckweed, Spirodela is used often in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Growing in ponds and puddles, this plant is one of the most rapidly growing plants on the planet. It can double its mass in under 24 hours! As a nutrient rich plant, many a gardener and farmer has been happy to skim duckweed off their water and add it to the compost pile. Herbalists may add a bit to a preparation simply to enhance its nutrient density and it is added to culinary preparations.
