Herb of the Day: Buchu
Posted by TriLight Health on Apr 2nd 2019
Today, we’re going to look at an herb with a fun name: Buchu. It’s a shrub that is primarily found in South America and Africa. Most Buchu found in the US was imported through Cape Town, South Africa. It’s not found in many other regions and is a great crop for that part of the world.

Possessing a unique and pleasant odor, you’ll find Buchu used as a perfume in South Africa. It also has a long history of use among the native people in that region.
Most widely used for its diuretic properties, Buchu is often used by herbalists for urinary tract infections. The leaves are traditionally used in herbal preparations. It’s also used as a flavoring agent in some beverages.
